You will normally take one dose of the remedy every day (unless there is a reason to skip a day, which we'll address later). It can be taken morning or evening, whichever works better for you, as long as you are consistent when you take it.*
Before taking a dose, each time
succuss the bottle: that is, hit the bottle against the palm of your hand or a leather-bound book. Give it a good hard thwack. This will increase the potency of the dose slightly each time. The number of times you succuss the bottle (typically from 2 to 8) will be written on the label. The number of succussions is the main way of controlling
how strong the remedy is.
Take one teaspoon from the bottle and put it in a cup with 4 oz. of water (Dosage Cup). Ideally the water should be distilled or filtered, but tap water is acceptable if that is all you have. Stir vigorously wiht a spoon. Use a disposable cup and spoon, which you only use for this remedy, not for food or other remedies. Label the cup for this remedy.
Take one teaspoon from the Dosage Cup as your daily dose.
Never drink directly from the bottle. This will disturb the gentle and increasingly deep-acting progression of potencies. It could cause an aggravation (temporary worsening) of your symptoms.
Discard the rest of the water in the cup.
Never drink the whole cup. (Hint: it's great for your plants!). Do not save it overnight. You need to make a new cup the next day after succussing the remedy bottle again. Otherwise you will not be following the systematic progression of potencies which is part of the healing system, and you might interfere with the progress of your cure.
* If you find that you tend to aggravate on your remedy frequently, and if your aggravations keep you awake at night, take the remedy in the morning. Phosphorus, Ignatia, and Bellis perennis usually have to be taken in the morning.
